Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. begins filming as Peacemaker actor Chukwudi Iwuji joins cast

After a sorjourn to the DC Extended Universe to direct The Suicide Squad and the upcoming HBO Max spinoff series Peacemaker, filmmaker James Gunn is now back in the familiar surroundings of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as he announces the start of production on Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Gunn, who was temporarily fired from the third Guardians movie by Disney a few years back before returning to the director’s chair, shared a photo from the set of the film showing the filmmaker alongside returning stars Dave Bautista (Drax), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Sean Gunn (Rocket/Kraglin), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora) and Karen Gillan (Nebula), as well as new additions Will Poulter (Adam Warlock) and Peacemaker actor Chukwudi Iwuji, whose role is yet to be revealed.

Plot details for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are being kept under wraps, but in addition to the above actors the film will also see the return of Elizabeth Debecki as Ayesha, while Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel are back to voice Rocket Raccoon and Groot respectively. Meanwhile, along with Guardians Vol. 3, Gunn and the cast are also shooting The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special to air on Disney+ next Christmas.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set for release on May 5th 2023.
