Hans Zimmer to score James Bond film No Time to Die

January 7, 2020 by Ricky Church

After No Time to Die‘s composer Dan Romer left the film last month, Variety has now revealed legendary composer Hans Zimmer has been hired by Eon Productions to score James Bond’s next adventure, which is set to be Daniel Craig’s last outing as the secret agent.

Romer apparently left the film amid “creative differences” and Zimmer was approached to fill the vacant position as the film’s composer. However, due to the crunch time between now and the film’s April 10 release date, as well as the fact it is currently in the post-production process in London, Zimmer will likely have to have had the music composed and recorded by mid-February in order to meet the deadline.

To that end, Variety has noted rumours suggesting Zimmer may enlist some of his previous collaborators to help complete the score, such as Benjamin Wallfisch (Blade Runner 2049) or Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout).

This year is already quite a packed one for Zimmer. In addition to now working on No Time to Die, Zimmer will be composing the scores for Wonder Woman 1984, Top Gun: Maverick and Dune.

Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

No Time To Die is set for release in the UK on April 2nd 2020 and in the U.S. on April 8th 2020 and stars Daniel Craig (James Bond), Ralph Fiennes (M), Naomie Harris (Moneypenny), Rory Kinnear (Tanner), Léa Seydoux (Madeleine Swann), Ben Whishaw (Q), Jeffrey Wright (Felix Leiter) and Christoph Waltz (Blofeld), while new additions include Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody), Ana de Armas (Blade Runner 2049), Lashana Lynch (Captain Marvel), Billy Magnussen (Velvet Buzzsaw), Dali Benssalah (A Faithful Man) and David Dencik (Top of the Lake).
