Cate Blanchett has been earning rave reviews for her villainous turn as Hela in Marvel’s latest superhero blockbuster Thor: Ragnarok, but things could have worked out very differently had Marvel went with its original plan of utilising the villain in Thor: The Dark World.
“Hela was almost the villain in Thor 2,” Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige told Slash Film. “It didn’t happen for various reasons… Thank God it didn’t [happen] because now we have Cate Blanchett and Taika Waititi doing it.”
As it turned out, Marvel opted to use Malekith the Accursed as the main villain for Thor: The Dark World, with Christopher Eccleston portraying the character.
