Indie horror Helios Hotel: The Night Shift comes to Steam

February 15, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Developer and publisher Rose Lane Games has announced the launch of their chapter-based indie horror game, Helios Hotel: The Night Shift, on Steam for PC.  Inspired by classic horror and slasher films like The Shining and Friday the 13th, this first-person, choose-your-own-adventure-style horror will take players through their night shift as the receptionist at a very unusual hotel.  Watch the new trailer below….

Taking the role of new night-shift receptionist, Rose, players will at first carry out a series of mundane tasks but as the night progresses the events slowly begin to become odd, then eventually turn into something far more sinister.

The hotel corridors and rooms provide an unsettling and claustrophobic atmosphere as players carry out their tasks, and the guests are an oddball assortment of people that will leave you unsure of what their motivations are.  As for the staff, those who work nights also seem a bit strange.

Players will be able to make choices that affect character dialogues and the player’s progress through each chapter.  This ultimately will lead to one of the four different endings that players can discover.

Featuring:

  • A creepy and claustrophobic atmosphere that will raise tension.
  • Fisrt-person exploration places gamers in the thick of the action.
  • Unnerving audio cues and a variety of jump scares to test your mettle.
  • Strange and unusual guests and staff.
  • Simple tasks that will immerse and alarm players.
  • Certain actions will unlock achievements.
  • Choices that affect how conversations with others play out.
  • Four different endings based on how the player acts in each chapter.
  • Gamepad and controller support as well as keyboard and mouse.
  • Simple graphics settings option for lower-end hardware.
  • Can be played on Steam Deck.

Helios Hotel: The Night Shift is out now on PC via Steam with a 15% discount for the first week of launch.
