Jake Gyllenhaal and Antoine Fuqua reuniting for The Guilty

September 19, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Jake Gyllenhaal is set to reunite with his Southpaw director Antoine Fuqua for The Guilty, a remake of the acclaimed Danish-drama thriller Den Skyldige from filmmaker Gustav Moller, Deadline has revealed.

The film take place over the course of a single morning in a 911 dispatch centre, with Gyllenhaal playing Joe Bayler, an operator who receives a call from a terrified woman in grave danger, but comes to discover that nothing is as it seems.

Fuqua is set to direct the film from a script by Nic Pizzolatto (True Detective), and will also produce through his Fuqua Films banner, while Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker also produce through their Nine Stories production company.

“I couldn’t be more excited to work with Antoine again,” said Gyllenhaal. “Our time together on Southpaw was one of the great artistic experiences of my career, and I cannot wait to be back on set with him again. The Guilty is a special story, and one that we all feel very close to.”

Filming on The Guilty is set to take place in November, after which Fuqua will team with Will Smith for the slave drama Emancipation.
