James Wan says Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be so good you’ll ignore the backlash

November 6, 2023 by EJ Moreno

James Wan seems very confident that his Aquaman sequel will end all the negativity surrounding the film and DC Studios.

With Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom just around the corner, the filmmaker is opening up about the film’s online reaction and all the negative press around the last official film in the DCEU.

Speaking to Empire Magazine, Wan goes down to shut down the naysayers. “I’ve been on this movie for four years now, and I’m so happy for it to come out,” he says. “In many ways, I think it’s even more fun than the first one. But it’s been a long, exhausting process. It is definitely the noisiest movie I’ve ever worked on.”

“That’s the biggest thing I’ve learned from this experience. To filter out the negativity and focus on the film,” the filmmaker adds. “Because that’s what will live on – in 20 years, no one will remember the noise. Only the movie.”

You can determine if you enjoyed the Aquaman sequel when it drops this December, although you’ll have to wait until 2043 to see if you remember it. In the meantime, share your thoughts by heading to our social channels @FlickeringMyth…

Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time, Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family and the world from irreversible destruction.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom arrives in cinemas on December 20th.
