Kevin Feige comments on a dramatic early Avengers: Infinity War death

May 2, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Kevin Feige has commented on one of the early deaths that permeate the start of Avengers: Infinity War.

We all knew that there would be plenty of death and carnage on the menu for Avengers: Infinity War, but audiences might not have expected some key characters to kick the bucket right at the start.

As you will remember, the film opens with Thanos attacking Thor’s spaceship and in the process, he easily bests The Hulk and goes onto kill Thor’s brother Loki when he attempts to attack the Titan. All though Tom Hiddleston’s character isn’t exactly a good guy, it was still a traumatic moment for fans of the character.

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has spoken to The Wrap about the scene’s emotion and how hard it was for Hiddleston to shoot: “A lot of days on this movie were emotional, not just if anything that drastic happened, but just characters that have been around for so long, or for whom the actor is their most identifiable role, or it’s a role that started them on their current giant career path. Not just a big dramatic bow, final curtain call, but anything some of the emotional dialogue scenes in this movie people … it would get emotional. For the most part, the film was fun because all these people are fun, and all these actors are fun.

“So, you have to imagine it’s emotional as they go through scenes that either represent, as I said, or some sort of curtain dropping, or just scenes that allow them to reflect on how far they’ve come, so there are a lot of days like that, that were emotional. And for Tom in particular, yeah, there was some,” Feige said. “Some days were more emotional than others.”

What did you think of Loki’s death? Are you sad to see him go? His death certainly feels like one that will remain permanent compared to some others later in the movie.

The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.
