Deadline is reporting that Paramount Pictures has snapped up the rights to the horror short Meet Jimmy, with Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes set to produce a feature adaptation.
Created by Dutch filmmakers David-Jan Bronsgeest and Tim Koomen, Meet Jimmy revolves around a mysterious podcast that once listened to, has horrific consequences. It is described as “The Ring and A Nightmare On Elm Street, with a zeitgeist hook.”
Bronsgeest will serve as director on Meet Jimmy, while Koomen will write the script by Shawn and Michael Rasmussen, directors of the upcoming Crawl, which is currently in production at Paramount.
Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller will produce for Platinum Dunes, along with Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman of The Picture Company.
