Kristen Stewart and Tom Glynn-Carney to star in Ben Foster’s directorial debut

May 12, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Ben Foster (Hell or High Water) has enlisted Kristen Stewart (JT LeRoy) and Tom Glynn-Carney (Tolkien) to star in his directorial debut, an as-yet-untitled film about author William Burroughs (Naked Lunch, Junkie).

As revealed by THR, the movie will explore “a love triangle among Burroughs, the famous Beat Generation writer to be played by Foster, his unsung common-law muse, Joan Vollmer (Stewart), and a young, straight-laced American ex-pat named Allerton (Glynn-Carney), who dramatically upends their lives.

“Our film is kind of anti-Beat,” said Foster. “We meet our star-crossed lovers in New York City, head to the Texas border, roar through Mexico City’s underbelly and end up in the Amazon jungle. This film is about love, sex and self-discovery in all of its lush, dark and often hilarious complexity.”

Foster is currently shooting the World War II boxing drama Harry Haft for director Barry Levinson, while Stewart will next be seen in the Charlie’s Angels reboot and Glynn-Carney appears in David Michod’s next film The King.
