Krysten Ritter will make her directorial debut with Jessica Jones season 3

June 28, 2018 by Ricky Church

Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter will be playing another role in the series’ third season, this time behind the camera. Deadline has reported Ritter will make her directorial debut for an episode in the returning Netflix series.

The third season of Jessica Jones recently began production in New York City, though the details of which episode Ritter will direct, or what the season will focus on, are unknown at this time. The second season made a point of hiring only women directors for the entirety of its run, though series creator and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg hasn’t said if they will do that again for the new season.

“I am beyond thrilled to make my directorial debut on Marvel’s Jessica Jones,” said Ritter. “The entire crew and cast has become family to me, and I’m so appreciative of the opportunity to work with our incredible team in this new way. I am so grateful that Melissa Rosenberg, Jeph Loeb, Marvel, and Netflix entrusted me to take the reins.”

Ritter stars alongside Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth and Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse. Rosenberg will also return as showrunner for the third season.

Seasons 1 and 2 are available to watch on Netflix while Luke Cage recently premiered its second season. Daredevil‘s third season and Iron Fist‘s second season are also expected to premiere before Jessica Jones returns, while The Punisher’s second season is currently in production.
