Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner to pen Toni Erdmann remake

July 1, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Back in February it was reported that Jack Nicholson is set to make his return to the big screen to star in a remake of the acclaimed 2016 German comedy Toni Erdmann, and now The Tracking Board is reporting that the project has found its writers in the Girls duo of Lena Dunham and Jenni Konner.

The film will mark Nicholson’s first appearance since 2010’s How Do You Know and sees him playing a father who attempts to reconnect with his workaholic daughter (Kristen Wiig) by posing as a high-flying life coach to her company’s CEO.

As yet, the Toni Erdmann remake is without a director, but is being produced by Adam McKay, Will Ferrell and Jessica Elbaum through their female-orientated Gloria Sanchez Productions banner. Maren Ade, who wrote and directed the German film, is also attached to executive produce.
