Logan crosses the half billion dollar mark at the worldwide box office

March 19, 2017 by Gary Collinson

It may have found itself slipping down the charts these past couple of weeks thanks to Beauty and the Beast and Kong: Skull Island, but 20th Century Fox’s latest X-Men offering Logan continues to pull in the cash at the box office, having crossed the half billion dollar mark this weekend.

Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine swansong is now sitting on $524 million globally, having grossed $184 million domestically and a further $340 million from international markets.

Logan is now the highest-grossing Wolverine movie (with The Wolverine on $414.8 million and X-Men Origins: Wolverine on $373.1 million), and the fourth-highest grossing chapter of the entire X-Men franchise behind X-Men: Apocalypse on $543.9 million.

Deadpool remains the biggest earner in the franchise, having pulled in $783.1 million last year, while X-Men: Days of Future Past sits in second place with $747.9 million.

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

Logan reunites Hugh Jackman with The Wolverine director James Mangold and also stars Hugh Jackman, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant, Stephen Merchant, Dafne Keen, Eriq La Salle, Elizabeth Rodriguez and Elise Neal.
