During yesterday’s appearance at D23 to promote Avengers: Infinity War, Mark Ruffalo was asked whether we might get to see him reprising the role of Bruce Banner to headline is own solo movie. Unfortunately for Hulk fans, Ruffalo had some bad news.
“I want to just make one thing perfectly clear today: A standalone Hulk movie will never happen,” said Ruffalo. “Universal has the rights, and for some reason, they don’t know how to play well with Marvel. And, they don’t want to make money.”
However, Kevin Feige seemed a little more optimistic – but only a little – stating : “We have a very strict never say never policy but he’s correct that there are no plans. He’s amazing in the Avengers movies, Thor: Ragnarok, that trailer we unleashed to the world we saw the excitement when we pair Hulk with other characters, that’s what we’re doing right now.”
Marvel is of course willing to work with other studios, as evidenced by its deal with Sony for Spider-Man, but seeing as The Incredible Hulk failed to set the box office alight, it’s understandable why another solo movie may not top their list of priorities. Still, we do have Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War coming up to give us our Hulk fix…

In Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok,” Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok—the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization—at the hands of an all-powerful threat, the ruthless Hela. But first he must survive a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against his former ally and fellow Avenger—the Incredible Hulk.
Thor: Ragnarok is being directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows) and features Marvel veterans Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Idris Elba as Heimdall and Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk alongside Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster, Karl Urban as Skurge and Sam Neill in an as-yet-unrevealed role. It is set for release on October 27th in the UK and November 3rd in the States.
