Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier can resume filming as Sebastian Stan likens the series to Lethal Weapon

May 8, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Having been forced to shut down filming due to the global health crisis with around three weeks still remaining, Marvel Studios’ Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has received some good news with the government of the Czech Republic giving the green light for film and television projects to resume production in the country.

The Czech Republic (and Prague in particular) has become a popular location for productions, and the government has announced that backlots can now reopen as long as the productions follow new hygiene standards, including testing for cast and crew every 14 days.

Along with Disney+ series, Amazon Studios has Carnival Row and The Wheel of Time readying to shoot in the Czech Republic, while upcoming film shoots include Ruin starring Margot Robbie and the Netflix film 473 Transatlantic.

Meanwhile, speaking to Variety, Bucky Barnes actor Sebastian Stan has been chatting about his experience making the series and working with his Avengers co-star Anthony Mackie, discussing how the series will flesh out the relationship between the two characters:

“We’ve had a lot of fun,” said Stan. “Anthony is a riot to work with. He really brings the best and the worst out of me. And I just love and I hate him at the same time. But that’s our dynamic, and I think it was so fun to finally get the time to really explore that with him, because we only had a couple of scenes across the movies. We really got to dive into that relationship, and it’s super fun, I mean in terms of very much that Lethal Weapon world.”

Hopefully, with the Czech Republic now open for business once again, Marvel will be able to complete production on The Falcon and the Winter Soldier in time for its planned August premiere in Disney+.

Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier features a cast that includes MCU veterans Anthony Mackie (Falcon), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Emily VanCamp (Sharon Carter), Daniel Bruhl (Zemo) and new additions Wyatt Russell (Overlord), Carl Lumbly (Doctor Sleep), Adepero Oduye (The Big Short), Desmond Chiam (Now Apocalypse), Miki Ishikawa (The Terror: Infamy) and Noah Mills (The Brave).
