Matt Reeves confirms The Batman Part II script is complete

June 30, 2025 by EJ Moreno

We’ve waited long enough, and Bat fans are starting to get stir crazy. The announcement that Matt Reeves has completed the script for The Batman Part II couldn’t come at a better time.

After months of speculation about the sequel’s status, with James Gunn addressing it and rumors swirling that it could be shelved, the newly released photo featuring the filmmaker has fans rejoicing.

“Partners in Crime (Fighters),” Reeves wrote on Instagram with co-writer Mattson Tomlin. The writer-director shared a photo of the completed script, but had the first page blurred out. It was pretty clear that a Batman logo was at the top.

The journey to The Batman Part II has been long, but we know the expression “the best things come to those who wait” often pays off. The sequel was announced in April 2022, a month after the original made its way into cinemas. That Robert Pattinson-led film went on to make $772 million at the global box office.

The Batman Part II is currently scheduled for  release October 1st, 2027.
