Microids celebrates 65 years of Asterix with Asterix Maxi Collection – Platinum Edition

September 6, 2024 by Andrew Newton

This year marks the 65th anniversary of the creation of everyone’s favourite Gaul warrior Asterix and Microids are celebrating this grand occasion by launching Asterix MAXI COLLECTION – PLATINUM EDITION on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch on 31st October.  This very special edition features 6 great Asterix games and puts them in a very nice collector’s box with a statue of Obelix and Dogmatix.

The figurine of Obelix stands 8 inches in height and features Obelix walking along with a stack of captured Roman helmets, while at his feet is Dogmatix (or Idefix as he is also known as) capering about as oft he does.  This figurine will look marvellous on anyone’s shelf.

There are six Asterix games included in this edition, allowing players to experience all the action-filled humour and enjoyment of the comics and films.  As players enjoy the multiple games they will visit such places as Rome, Greece, Hibernia and many more, all while taking part in epic battles.

The 6 games included in the compilation are:

  • Asterix & Obelix – Slap Them All! – A slap-filled adventure awaits Asterix and Obelix as they battle hundreds of enemies, including Romans, pirates, bandits and even Normans.
  • Asterix & Obelix – Slap Them All! 2 – More slapping fun with an original storyline that takes the pair through a variety of locations, including forgotten ruins, a Roman camp and Lutèce. It’s a journey that will provide players with lots of opportunities to practice their slaps.
  • Asterix & Obélix – XXL Romastered – The Romans have pillaged Asterix’ village and taken all the villagers.  It’s up to our heroes Asterix & Obelix to track them down and rescue them, assisted by Dogmatix of course. Their mission will take players on a journey from Normandy, through Greece and Egypt to Rome.
  • Asterix & Obelix – XXL 2 – The old druid, Getafix, has disappeared after betraying his own people for Julius Caesar, or so it seems. Asterix and Obelix are sent to Rome on a mission by their chief Vitalstatistix where they find a Roman amusement park called Las Vegum. What is Getafix up to?
  • Asterix & Obelix – XXL 3 – When Getafix gets a strange letter from Hella Finidrir, the high priestess of Thule, it leads to a mission for our heroes to take a mysterious Menhir from its hiding place.
  • Asterix & Obelix XXXL – The Ram From Hibernia – Players will travel through six ‘worlds’ on a brand-new adventure. As Asterix and Obelix, players will need to unlock passageways, seek out hidden bonuses and knock out as many Romans as possible.

The Asterix MAXI COLLECTION – PLATINUM EDITION will be available on 31st October, only on Playstation 5 and the Nintendo Switch.
