Netflix responds to Christopher Nolan’s negative comments about the platform

August 16, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Netflix is still keen to work with director Christopher Nolan down the road despite his disparaging comments about the streaming giant, according to chief content officer Ted Sarandos.

Christopher Nolan, the director of this summer’s WWII drama Dunkirk, had bashed Netflix in a recent interview. The director isn’t a fan of movies being shown anywhere but the big screen, a reason why he films his movies in IMAX as much as possible and is such a warrior for film conservation.

But according to Sarandos, he would be open to working with the director down the road, saying as much in a recent interview with Variety.

“I think he’s a great filmmaker,” he says. “He should make and release his movies however he sees fit. I hope he’ll want to do it with us someday.”

It’s seems unlikely that Nolan will ever want to work with the service, but its unsurprising that Sarandos would be keen to bring him on board for a project, considering Nolan’s blockbuster appeal and critical pedigree.
