New rumoured shortlist for Cyclops, Jean and Storm in X-Men: Apocalypse

January 9, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Back in November a list of potential candidates for the roles of the younger Cyclops and Jean Grey in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse arrived online, which included the likes of Ben Hardy (EastEnders), Charlie Rowe (Neverland), Timothee Chalamet (Interstellar), Chloe Moretz (The Equalizer), Elle Fanning (Maleficent) and Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit). Since then, we haven’t heard any movement on the casting of those characters, but now Latino-Review has a rumoured shortlist of new names for Scott and Jean, as well as that of Storm.

According to the site, Taron Edgerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) Jamie Blackley (If I Stay) and Tye Sheridan (Mud) are up for Cyclops, with Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) and Saoirse Ronan (Hanna) are in the frame for Jean Grey and Alexandra Shipp (House of Anubis) and Zendaya Coleman (K.C. Undercover) are being considered for the role of Storm. Jeff Sneider adds that he’s heard Tye Sheridan is front runner for Scott, while Chloe Moretz apparently passed on an offer to play Jean.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to go into production in April ahead of a release on May 19th, 2016. Bryan Singer will direct returning X-Men: Days of Future Past stars James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast) and Evan Peters (Quicksilver), while Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis) set to play Apocalypse.
