One Piece season 2 casts Rigo Sanchez, Yonda Thomas and James Hiroyuki Liao

Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece has announced new additions to its cast for season two. Per Variety, Rigo Sanchez (Outer Banks), Yonda Thomas (Red Ink) and James Hiroyuki Liao (Presumed Innocent) will star in the upcoming season.

Sanchez will play Dragon, the leader of the Revolutionary Army and Luffy’s father. Thomas will play Igaram, a member of the Royal Guard and Liao will play Ipponmatsu, an arms shop owner. The series is based on the long-running magna created by Eiichiro Oda that began in 1997 and was adapted as an anime series in 1999.

The live-action series was created by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda. Owens and Joe Tracz will serve as writers, executive producers and showrunners for season two with Oda also an executive producer.

Monkey D. Luffy is a young adventurer who has longed for a life of freedom since he can remember. Luffy sets off from his small village on a perilous journey to find the legendary fabled treasure, One Piece, to become King of the Pirates! But in order to find the ultimate prize, Luffy will need to assemble the crew he’s always wanted before finding a ship to sail, searching every inch of the vast seas, outpacing the Marines, and outwitting dangerous rivals at every turn.

One Piece features Iñaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero, Taz Skylar, Ilia Isorelys Paulino, Jeff Ward and Michael Dorman. Newcomers for season two are Charithra Chandran, Joe Manganiello, Katey Sagal, Lera Abova, Mark Harelik, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Brendan Sean Murray, Callum Kerr, Camrus Johnson, Clive Russell, Daniel Lasker, David Dastmalchian, Jazzara Jaslyn, Julia Rehwald, Rob Colletti, Ty Keogh, Werner Coetser, Rigo Sanchez, Yonda Thomas and James Hiroyuki Liao.
