Resident Evil Village details revealed in latest showcase

January 22, 2021 by Andrew Newton

In yesterday’s Resident Evil showcase, Capcom revealed a number of key details regarding the hugely anticipated survival horror Resident Evil Village.  The latest reveals include a new trailer (see below) and the announcement of the multiplayer Resident Evil Re:Verse game.  This 8th main entry in the hit horror franchise will arrive on Xbox One/ Series X/S, Playstations 4 and 5 and Steam on the 7th May with pre-orders available now.

Resident Evil Village continues to follow the story of Ethan Winters, who was first seen in Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, as he tackles the horrors of the village.  Players will encounter a good variety of enemies (revealed in the showcase video below) and include such abominations as fast-moving creatures that constantly stalk Ethan and the daughters of Lady Dimitrescu who have the ability to transform into swarms of insects.

Ethan will be able to purchase and sell items, buy recipes and customise weapons through the use of a merchant nicknamed ‘The Duke’ and will be able to craft a number of consumables using materials found throughout the game that are vital for surviving the terrors of the village.

Enemies will have their own distinct attack moves and will require players to adapt their strategies to tackle each one, or at least decide when to retreat. As well as weapons, Ethan also has a new kick move which will help players distance themselves from oncoming enemies, giving precious time to decide the next move.

Gamers lucky enough to have managed to get hold of a PS5 will be able to get an exclusive sneak peek at the castle area from Resident Evil Village with the Maiden demo.  This tension filled demo will have players using their wits to make their escape with no means of defence or attack.

It’s Resident Evil’s 25th anniversary this March and to celebrate Capcom has annoucned that Resident Evil Village will include access to a free multiplayer experience titled Resident Evil Re:Verse.  This is a 4-6 player death match featuring fan-favorite characters and iconic locations.  When a player is killed they will respawn as a deadly bioweapon and get the opportunity for revenge.

Resident Evil Village releases on 7th May and is available to pre-order now digitally and physically.  A physical Collector’s Edition will include the base game, the digital “Trauma Pack”, a steelbook case, art bnook, cloth map of the village and a statue of Chris Redfield.
