Rian Johnson reveals Lucasfilm spoiler policy for Star Wars: The Last Jedi

October 11, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Rian Johnson, the director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, has revealed the spoiler policy of Lucasfilm for the upcoming movie.

The build up to The Last Jedi has gotten everyone talking, and, as is normally the case for a film of this size, fans have had to contend with any spoilers that might be contained in the movie’s marketing material.

Lucasfilm has already set out their stall for what they consider to be a no-go area with regards to The Last Jedi, as Rian Johnson has revealed to Yahoo the process that was undertaken to decide what would need to be left out of the various trailers.

“A year ago, maybe even more than that, my producer Ram [Bergman] and I sat down with the folks at Lucasfilm and said, ‘OK, this is what we’re going to reveal here and there, and this stuff we’re never going to reveal until the movie comes out.’” Johnson revealed. “We came up with a ‘no-fly list’ of, under no circumstances is this shown or that shown.”

Johnson went on to explain that the process was a little surreal and that it was an interesting experience being involved in such discussions.

“It is a fascinating process,” explained Johnson, “It’s something that for me, just having been a fan my whole life, suddenly being behind the curtain and seeing how it works and seeing how deliberate it is, has been really fascinating.”
