Robert Rodriguez encouraged Temuera Morrison to show Boba Fett’s brutal side in The Mandalorian

December 11, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Robert Rodriguez, director of last week’s episode of The Mandalorian, encouraged Temuera Morrison to bring out Boba Fett’s brutal side.

Boba Fett came back with a bank last week on The Mandalorian episode ‘The Tragedy’. We saw Boba mercilessly take down storm troopers in violent fashion, showcasing the character’s nasty side.

According to actor Temuera Morrison, director Robert Rodriguez encouraged him to bring out Boba’s brutal nature during the episode. Speaking to StarWars.com, he said:

“Within Boba, if he decided to erupt, he’s like a small volcano. And Robert was drawing a little bit of that out of me, as well. So when we do those fight sequences, there is a bit of rawness there, there is a bit of brutality there.”

Boba isn’t all bad, however, as evidenced by the episode. The character showed his softer side which is something new for the character, especially his code of honour:

“I think that’s where I come into it. In bringing that humanity and keeping it kind of simple. Giving him values.”

It looks like we will be seeing more Boba Fett in the next couple of episodes. He certainly adds an exciting new dynamic to proceedings and is a valuable friend for Din to have.

The Mandalorian season two sees the returning Pedro Pascal (Din Djarin), Gina Carano (Cara Dune), Carl Weathers (Greef Karga), Giancarlo Esposito (Moff Gideon), Bill Burr (Mayfield), and Ming-Na Wen (Fennec Shand) joined by the likes of Temuera Morrison (Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones), Katee Sackhoff (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Timothy Olyphant (Justified), Michael Biehn (The Terminator), Rosario Dawson (Daredevil), and WWE Superstar Sasha Banks.

The Mandalorian season two airs on Fridays on Disney+.
