Saw 9 on the table after Jigsaw box office success

January 17, 2018 by Tom Beasley

The violent games of the Jigsaw Killer seem set to continue, with the box office success of Saw franchise reboot Jigsaw sparking discussions around a ninth film in the series.

Serial killer John Kramer, played in all eight of the Saw films by Tobin Bell, was killed in the third movie, but his games have continued through a string of admirers and apprentices.

The franchise laid dormant for seven years after Saw: The Final Chapter in 2010, but last year’s reboot managed a box office haul of more than $100m from a budget of just $10m.

Bloody Disgusting reports that the success of the reboot means production company Twisted Pictures have begun “conversations” about continuing the franchise with another movie.

Michael and Peter Spierig, who directed Jigsaw, would not return to make another movie, leaving the myriad toys of this franchise in the hands of someone else.
