Stan Lee’s The Virtue of Vera Valiant heading to the big screen

May 14, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Over the past decade we’ve become very accustomed to seeing Stan Lee’s creations on the big screen, and we’ll soon be able to add another to the ever-expanding list, although this one is pretty far removed from Marvel superheroes.

Deadline is reporting that Lee’s Pow! Entertainment is teaming up with China’s Tianying Media for an adaptation of his 1970s spoof soap opera syndicated comic strip The Virtue of Vera Valiant entitled The Last Resort, which will tell the story of a woman who inherits a resort hotel in space.

“Stan Lee is a true legend of our time,” said Wu Jian, CEO of Tianying Media. “We are so excited to be working with Pow! Entertainment and to be able to bring the amazing script of The Last Resort to life. We are focusing on the Chinese market, a rapidly-growing audience that is extremely hungry for new ideas and a variety of different films.”

The Last Resort has been scripted by Lee and Bob Underwood, who will also serve as executive producers. As yet, there’s no word on a director, but it is said that Tianying is currently in talks with top Chinese comedy filmmakers and are hoping to go into production before the end of the year.
