Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu brings back Jonny Coyne’s Imperial Warlord

December 14, 2024 by Gary Collinson

Although Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu wrapped filming earlier this month, we’ve heard very little in the way of news from Lucasfilm and director Jon Favreau’s upcoming feature film spinoff from the Disney+ The Mandalorian, without even so much as an official cast list for the 2026 release.

The ever-busy Pedro Pascal was recently confirmed as reprising his role as Din Djarin, joining the previously revealed Sigourney Weaver in an as-yet-unrevealed role, while this week brought us the news that The Bear star Jeremy Allen White is set to lend his voice to Rotta the Hutt, the son of deceased crime boss Jabba the Hutt.

Well, we can now add another name to the cast, as Deadline has revealed that actor Jonny Coyne will be returning as his yet-unnamed Imperial Warlord, who previously appeared in Chapter 23 of the Disney+ series as part of the Imperial Shadow Council which appears to Moff Gideon via hologram, machinating about the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn.

With Coyne’s Imperial Warlord on board, we can presumably expect to see other members of the Shadow Council, which included the likes of Brendol Hux (Brian Gleeson) and Gilad Pallaeon (Xander Berkeley), although neither they nor Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) or Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) are confirmed at present.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu is set for release on May 22nd 2026.
