The Russo brothers on whether we’ll see Captain Marvel and The Defenders in Avengers: Infinity War

September 14, 2016 by Gary Collinson

We already have a pretty good idea that Captain Marvel will feature in Avengers: Infinity War, seeing as the Russo brothers accidentally let the detail slip during a press event in the build up to Captain America: Civil War, and now the filmmaking siblings have once again addressed whether we’ll see the debut of Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers in the 2018 superhero epic.

“It’s an incredible piece of casting,” Joe Russo told The Toronto Sun. “You couldn’t ask for better. Not only is she an amazingly talented actor but she’s a wonderful human being. We’re really looking forward to the opportunity of re-teaming with her… if we were to get the chance to work with that character.”

Given that Infinity War is set to feature virtually every hero from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date, the Russos have previously suggested that it’s unlikely there will be any room for The Defenders, but Anthony Russo went on to offer a glimmer of hope that Daredevil and company may yet feature:

“We do consider everyone. We don’t want to get too specific about what’s going to happen with these movies. We want these movies to be a surprise for audiences.”

There is of course a big difference between “considering” and “including”, but at least it’s not a definitive no.

Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is set for release on May 4th 2018.
