Thor: Love and Thunder runtime revealed, new posters released

June 16, 2022 by Gary Collinson

With tickets now on sale around the world ahead of the film’s release this July, cinema listings for Marvel Studios’ next big screen offering have revealed the running time for director Taika Waititi’s hotly-anticipated sequel Thor: Love and Thunder.

The film – which will see Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder teaming with Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor to battle Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) – is set to run for 119 minutes. That makes it the first MCU movie to clock in under two hours since 2018’s Ant-Man and the Wasp and is also 11 minutes shorter than Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok., although it’s longer than Hemsworth’s first two outings in Thor (114 minutes) and Thor: The Dark World (a merciful 112 minutes).

In addition to the running time reveal, we’ve also got some new posters for the Marvel superhero sequel which you can check out here…

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Love and Thunder” finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Thor: Ragnarok helmer Taika Waititi, who also reprises his on-screen role as Korg, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), alongside the returning Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax) and Sean Gunn (Kraglin), with Christian Bale (Ford v Ferrari) as Gorr the God Butcher and Russell Crowe (Man of Steel) as Zeus.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set for release on July 8th, 2022.
