Vacation Friends to reunite for Honeymoon Friends

September 7, 2021 by Gary Collinson

It may have received a mixed reception from critics [read our reviews here and here], but with 20th Century Studios’ Vacation Friends becoming Hulu’s most-watched original film following its debut last weekend, Deadline is reporting that the studio has wasted no time in giving the green light to a sequel.

Titled Honeymoon Friends, the sequel will reunite writer-director Clay Tarver with stars Lil Rey Howery, Yvonne Orji, John Cena, Meredith Hagner as well as producer Todd Garner. As yet, there’s no word on a timeframe for the film, but deals have been closed and Tarver is now working on the script.

Vacation Friends follows a straight-laced couple played by Lil Rey Howery (Get Out) and Yvonne Orji (Insecure) who befriend the party-going John Cena (The Suicide Squad) and Meredith Hagner (Palm Springs), only to be horrified when the pair then turn up at their wedding.

Vacation Friends is available to stream now on Hulu in the U.S. and on Star on Disney+ internationally.
