William Shatner rules out another Kirk appearance in Star Trek

March 8, 2020 by Gary Collinson

While CBS may have been able to entice one former Enterprise captain out of retirement for Star Trek: Picard, Patrick Stewart’s predecessor William Shatner has seemingly shut the door on another appearance as the legendary James T. Kirk, the actor revealing on social media that he believes Kirk’s story is “played out”.

No. I think Kirk’s story is pretty well played out at this point. https://t.co/30qVk9uxKN

Shatner then went on to rule out the possibility of a cameo appearance in another Star Trek project, stating simply that “I don’t do cameos.”

I don’t do cameos.🤷🏼‍♂️ It’s a throwaway part to sell DVDs. https://t.co/d6hOf76h6S

Shatner was last seen in the Star Trek universe in 1994’s Star Trek Generations, and while rumours of an appearance in Star Trek Beyond proved to be unfounded, the actor had indicated as recently as 2017 that he’d be open to returning as Kirk if the right idea came along (or if the offer involved “a great deal of money”).
