Last weekend, we heard from Warner Bros. Chief Executive Officer Kevin Tsujihara, who revealed that “we need to get Wonder Woman on the big screen or TV”. Well, it seems that WB has indeed been inviting pitches for a Wonder Woman movie, with Bridesmaids and The Heat director Paul Feig telling IGN that he recently pitched the studio a “lighter action-comedy” take on the Amazon Princess.
According to the site, Feig’s pitch “would have involved a Wonder Woman who keeps hitting the glass ceiling of the superhero world [and] has to contend with male heroes like Batman and Superman who are perhaps not as forward-thinking regarding their female counterpart as they should be.” Perhaps unsurprisingly, Warner Bros. rejected the concept, raising hopes that we might actually get to see a faithful adaptation of the popular DC character once Warner Bros. gets its DC Cinematic Universe fully up and running with 2015’s Batman vs. Superman.
Are you disappointed that Warner Bros. rejected Feig’s pitch? Let us know in the comments below…
