Mewtwo to return to Super Smash Bros. as DLC

October 24, 2014 by Tom Powter

Just last night, Nintendo showcased Super Smash Bros. for Wii U in glorious detail, revealing a plethora of new content. However, perhaps most exciting is the return of Mewtwo to the series!

Mewtwo, the fearsome Pokemon with unparalleled psychic abilities, joined the Smash Bros. franchise in its second instalment, Super Smash Bros. Melee. Despite not being the best fighter in the game, Mewtwo was a unique fighter who garnered a strong fan-following. However, when Super Smash Bros. Brawl came around in 2008, fans were disappointed to see Mewtwo had been cut from the game entirely.

Now, Mewtwo finally returns. Revealed last night as part of the Nintendo Direct for Smash Bros Wii U, Mewtwo will be arriving as a free piece of DLC in Spring 2015 – as long as you buy both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U versions of the game. Other than that, it’s difficult to say when, or even if, you’ll be able to get Mewtwo at all if you only have one version of the game.

Regardless though, it’s fantastic to finally have him back and hopefully we’ll get more information on him soon…
