Michael Keaton gives an update on Beetlejuice 2

December 1, 2014 by Gary Collinson

For a time last year it seemed like the long-gestating Beetlejuice sequel was finally moving forward, with Tim Burton entering talks to direct the film, and Michael Keaton confirming back in February that he’d had discussions with the director about reprising the role of the bio-exorcist Betelgeuse.

Since then, things have fallen quiet, but Keaton has now provided a brief update on the status of Beetlejuice 2 during a chat with Deadline to promote his latest film Birdman:

“Tim Burton and I have emailed about it. We’re both in the same situation (of always being busy on other projects). Neither one of us gets tired of the conversation… Tim says he’s working on something, then goes away for a while. At some point, someone is going to say we really want to do it. You don’t want to fuck it up, so it has to be perfect.”

Next up for Tim Burton is Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children, which is expected to go into production in February.
