Latina superstar Belinda cast in 2017’s Baywatch reboot

March 15, 2016 by Justin Cook

Mexican singer-songwriter Belinda has landed a role alongside Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron in Seth Gordon’s 2017 Baywatch reboot.

Spanish website El Pais confirmed the actress/singer’s involvement with the film during a phone interview, and Belinda herself later took to Instagram to post a picture of her arriving in Savannah, Georgia, which is where the film is currently being shot.

For those who are unfamiliar with Belinda and her work, she is a hugely successful recording artist who has often been called the “Princess of Latin Pop.” Worldwide, her albums have been sold around 16 million times, making her one of the best-selling female Mexican singers of all time.

Belinda’s acting experience is largely limited to numerous Mexican projects, such as Camaleones and Mujeres asesinas 3, although she did appear in the Disney Channel’s 2006 film The Cheetah Girls 2. As a side note, this means that Efron (High School Musical) isn’t the only actor in the Baywatch cast to have appeared in a straight-to-television Disney movie once upon a time.

Baywatch is set for release on May 19th 2017 sees Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) directing a cast that includes Dwayne Johnson (Fast & Furious 7), Zac Efron (Dirty Grandpa), Alexandra Daddario (San Andreas), Kelly Rohrbach (Two and a Half Men), Priyanka Chopra (Quantico), Jon Bass (Big Tim in Hollywood, FL), Hannibal Buress (Daddy’s Home), Belinda (The Cheetah Girls 2) and Ilfenesh Hadera (Billions). David Hasselhoff is confirmed to appear in a cameo, while Pamela Anderson has also reportedly been offered a role.
