Producer Adi Shankar wants to work on “Dark Metroid” series, says Castlevania Season 2 “will blow season 1 out of the water”

July 12, 2017 by Jordan Jones

Adi Shankar is quickly becoming a hero in the eyes of gamers. The first season of Shankar’s Castlevania series has hit Netflix to mostly positive reviews, and he has also recently announced an animated take on Assassin’s Creed.

Now, Castlevania has already been given the green-light for another season, and things seem to be moving along quite rapidly. Shankar recently sat down with Nintendo Life to talk about Castlevania season 1, and beyond.

When asked about the status of season 2, and if it will stay in the Castlevania III continuity, Shankar revealed that “… the scripts are done and they blow Season 1 out of the water. I’m not answering the rest of this… I don’t want to spoil it!”.

In response to a question regarding where the series could go in future seasons, most notably the stories of Richter Belmont and Alucard, he said: “… to me it’s always been a story about multiple generations of a family. It’s a timeline that spans many many centuries. Making this show was a dream come true and I would love to keep making as many seasons of this as they’ll allow me to. As long as the fans keep watching the show and engaging in social media about it then the team and I will be able to tell a lot of Castlevania stories.

Lastly, and most tantalizing of all, the producer was asked what other franchises he would like to work on. Adi Shankar gave a short answer: “Dark Metroid in the same anime style. ”

What do you think about adapting Metroid to an animated series? What other video game franchises would you like to see adapted (Silent Hill comes to mind)? Let us know in the comments below!
