The Abyss update takes players to new depths in No Man’s Sky

October 29, 2018 by Andrew Newton

Hello Games and 505 Games have released The Abyss, a free new update for No Man’s Sky which kits players out with a brand new Exocraft, more base parts, the Marine Shelter and much more.  You can check out the Abyss in the new trailer below…

The Abyss takes players to new depths in No Man’s Sky with a brand new story called ‘The Dreams of the Deep’.  With these new missions players can discover the fate of a troubled crew stranded from a freighter crash by the rising tides and explore underwater ruins to find out what happened to the lost soul trapped deep beneath the waves.

A new Exocraft, the Nautilon, provides a great way to travel the depths and makes it easier to navigate, mine and take part in combat.  This new submersible can be upgraded with installable Submarine Technology and can also be customised to stand out from the crowd.  The Nautilon can be summoned to any ocean on the planet and docked at underwater buildings.

Over a dozen new base pieces have been added that allow players to be more creative underwater.  New glass corridors, viewing bays and multi-storey submersible view domes can be used to make a base with the perfect ocean view.  There’s also the new Marine Shelter available to construct that will give players a brief respite from the oceanic pressure.

The underwater biome has been greatly improved and players can experience a much more lively environment with more aquatic flora and fauna.  There are also sunken ruins to explore with ancient treasures to find and lost cargo to discover from crashed freighter wrecks.  It will even be possible to discover and restore rare crashed star ships.

The Abyss is available now as a free update for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
