Dwayne Johnson to reteam with Jungle Cruise director on DC’s Black Adam

June 8, 2019 by Gary Collinson

It’s been almost five years since it was first announced that Dwayne Johnson had been cast as the DC villain/antihero Black Adam in Shazam!, and two and a half years since the reveal that he’ll actually be headlining his own solo movie, and now it seems that The Rock may finally have found a place for the project in his insanely packed schedule.

Back in April, the actor and producer suggested that Black Adam is due to begin production in “about a year”, and now comes word from THR that the film has found a director, with Johnson set to reunite with his Jungle Cruise helmer Jaume Collet-Serra on the project.

Collet-Serra has recently wrapped filming on Disney’s Jungle Cruise, which he signed on to direct after turning down the opportunity take on the reins of Warner Bros. and DC Films’ Suicide Squad 2 (now moving forward as The Suicide Squad with director James Gunn).

Should everything go according to plan and Black Adam does start shooting early next year, then it will likely arrive in cinemas at some point in 2021, joining fellow DC releases The Batman and The Suicide Squad.

Are you looking forward to finally seeing Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam? What do you make of Jaume Collet-Serra as choice of director? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or tweet us @FlickeringMyth…
