State of the MCU Address: Where Does Marvel Studios Go Now?

July 19, 2021 by Gary Collinson

EJ Moreno and Allen Christian talk all things MCU in the latest Flickering Myth Movie Chat…

After a delayed start due to the coronavirus pandemic, Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now well and truly underway, with Black Widow bringing the MCU back to the big screen Disney+ having dropped Marvel Studios’ first three TV shows in WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Loki.

At the risk of spoilers (which flow freely in the video below – so be warned), the finale of Loki has led to a major paradigm shift for the MCU, one that’s likely to play out not only through its second season but also the likes of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

On top of that, we’ve also got – deep breath – Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Eternals, Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Marvels, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Blade, Fantastic 4, Captain America 4, What If…?, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Secret Invasion, Armor Wars, Ironheart, Echo… and that’s before we get to the X-Men, Deadpool, and a potential Secret Wars?

Join EJ Moreno and Allen Christian as they take a deep dive into the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in this latest episode of FM Movie Chat…

What are your thoughts on the current direction of the MCU? What would you like to see playing out through Phase Four and beyond?
