Freedom Planet races onto the Nintendo Switch at the end of the month

August 10, 2018 by Andrew Newton

Indie developer GalaxyTrail’s smash hit Freedom Planet is coming to the Nintendo Switch in North America and Europe on 30th August.  Giant robots and vicious insects await players in this fast paced combat driven platformer.  A new trailer has been released (see below) and introduces the game’s characters.

In Freedom Planet players follow Lilac, Carol or Milla (an unlockable character) as they take on hostile powers and alien attack forces to free the world of Avalice.  Each character has their own playstyle and abilities which help them take on enemies and travel through the sprawling non-linear levels.  All levels hide a multitude of secrets including alternate paths, hidden collectibles, and speedrun opportunities.

Players can experience an Adventure Mode with its fully voiced cutscenes to add over an hours worth of storyline or a Classic Mode that puts aside the whole story and focuses on just the action.

Freedom Planet is a fast-paced combat-driven platform adventure that pits a spunky dragon girl and her friends against hostile foreign powers and alien attack forces. There’s trouble around every turn, from insects to giant robots to sheer explosive destruction, but players will have a variety of special fighting abilities at their disposal to blast through more than a dozen massive, nonlinear stages. The campaign may be played through as Lilac, Carol, or the unlockable Milla, each of whom has completely unique gameplay mechanics, an altered story mode in which the selected character takes the lead, and even a few of her own unique stages.

Freedom Planet will arrive on the Nintendo eShop on 30th August, priced £12.99/ $14.99/ €14.99.
