As part of Disney’s D23 Expo yesterday, the studio showcased a number of its upcoming animated offerings, including the CG musical Moana, which is directed by John Musker and Ron Clements (The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Treasure Planet, The Princess and the Frog) and will mark the 56th film in the Walt Disney Animation Studios canon. In the ancient South Pacific world of Oceania, Moana, a born navigator, sets sail in search of a fabled island. During her incredible journey, she teams up with her hero, the legendary demi-god Maui, to traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous sea creatures, breathtaking underworlds and ancient folklore.
Moana is set for release on November 23rd 2016 in the States and on December 2nd 2016 in the UK.
