Superman: Legacy casts David Corenswet as Man of Steel alongside Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane

June 27, 2023 by EJ Moreno

The adventures of Lois Lane and Clark Kent will begin again very soon. James Gunn has officially announced his cast for Superman: Legacy.

After weeks of auditions and screen tests this past week, Gunn has landed on his two leads for the DC Studios project. In the role of Superman/Clark Kent will be David Corenswet, the 29-year-old actor from the 2022 horror film Pearl and Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series Hollywood. Tackling the world-famous journalist, Lois Lane is Rachel Brosnahan, best known for her Emmy and Golden Globe-winning turn in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Both are young, fresh faces in Hollywood, especially in film. Corenswet and Brosnahan spent most of their early careers in television, so they’ll either feel like new cinema finds or TV actors trying to level up. Only time will tell, but it seems like filmmaker James Gunn is delighted with his picks.

Gunn took to Twitter to confirm the news and praise his new actors. Check out his tweet below…

Accurate! (They are not only both incredible actors, but also wonderful people). https://t.co/1FtwYIDeYj

Little is known about the project, but reports claim we will see Superman face off with The Authority in a world already familiar with superheroes. The film will also introduce a new Lex Luthor, which Gunn is currently eyeing actors for as we speak.

The official synopsis states Superman: Legacy “tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”

Superman: Legacy is scheduled to open in theaters on July 11th, 2025.
