Tim Meadows, Sol Rodriguez and David Denman join Peacemaker season 2

June 12, 2024 by Ricky Church

Though James Gunn is busy filming Superman, the first film in the new DC Universe he and Peter Safran are crafting under DC Studios, he is getting ready for his next project in the superhero universe with the second season of Peacemaker, and the upcoming season has made several additions to its cast with SNL veteran Tim Meadows, Sol Rodriguez (Star Trek: Picard) and David Denman (The Office) joining John Cena.

Meadows will play ARGUS agent Langston Fleury, an original character to the DC universe while Denman’s role is being kept under wraps. Rodriguez, however, has a role Batman fans will know as she is set to play Sasha Bordeaux.

Created by Greg Rucka and Shawn Martinbrough, Bordeaux debuted in Detective Comics as a hired bodyguard to Bruce Wayne and eventually deduced his alter-ego as Batman. Batman took her under his wing, training her as another partner in his war against crime, and she later became a member of the secret government agency Checkmate, a division of Task Force X designed to keep tabs on Earths superheroes.

The Hollywood Reporter announced Rodriguez and Denman’s casting while Gunn announced Meadows through an Instagram post, sharing a photo of himself, Meadows and Peacemaker’s Steve Agee.

The trio join Cena as Christopher Smith/Peacemaker, a role he’s played since Gunn’s 2021 film The Suicide Squad. Peacemaker follows him after the events of the film as he tries to become a real hero. Returning from the first season is Agee, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma and Jennifer Holland.

Also starring in the second season is Frank Grillo as Rick Flagg Sr., the father to Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flagg who Peacemaker killed in The Suicide Squad. Grillo will make his debut in Gunn’s animated series Creature Commandos, set to premiere on Max this December, and reprise Flagg Sr. in live-action for the upcoming season, presumably with Flagg confronting Peacemaker over his son’s murder.
