The Sandman season 2 behind the scenes video teases more Endless family drama

September 20, 2024 by Ricky Church

At Netflix’s Geeked Week event the streamer showed off a behind the scenes look at The Sandman‘s second season, adapting more stories of the classic Vertigo series and the family drama that will unfold between the Endless.

The Sandman follows Dream, or Morpheus, one of the beings known as the Endless who is the lord of all dreams. The first season saw Dream captured and imprisoned for decades and his quest to regain his lost powers upon his freedom, a quest that took him to the depths of Hell and on the trail of nightmares and dreams who have gone rogue in his absence.

Season two will adapt the graphic novels ‘Seasons of Mist’ and ‘Brief Lives’ from the series. The official synopsis reads: “In the next chapter of The Sandman, the King of Dreams will come face-to-face — and go toe-to-toe — with the formidable rulers of Hell, Asgard, Faerie, and the realms beyond.”

The Sandman was developed by series creator Neil Gaiman, David S. Goyer and Allen Heinberg with Heinberg serving as showrunner.

Starring as the Endless are Tom Sturridge as Dream, Kirby as Death, Mason Alexander Park as Desire, Donna Preston as Despair, Adrian Lester as Destiny, Esmé Creed-Miles as Delirium and Barry Sloane as The Prodigal. Reprising their roles from season one is Patton Oswalt as Matthew the Raven, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, Ferdinand Kingsley, Stephen Fry as Gilbert, Asim Chaudhry as Abel, Sanjeev Bhaskar as Cain, Vanesu Samunyai as Rose Walker and Razane Jammal as Lyta.

Joining for season two is Ruairi O’Connor (The Morning Show), Freddie Fox (Slow Horses), Clive Russell (Game of Thrones), Laurence O’Fuarain (The Gentleman), Ann Skelly (The Nevers), Douglas Booth (The Dirt), Jack Gleeson (Game of Thrones), Indya Moore (Pose) and Steve Coogan (Alan Partridge).

The Sandman season two will premiere in 2025.
