Zombie deckbuilder The Dead Await arrives on Steam Early Access

October 25, 2024 by Andrew Newton

ShotX Studios and indie.io have announced the release of their hybrid zombie survival and deck battler The Dead Await into Early Access on Steam.  In perfect timing for Halloween, The Dead Await challenges players to lead a caravan of survivors through a zombie-infested wasteland where every decision determines life or death.  Watch the new trailer below….

The Dead Await blends strategic deck-building combat with open-world exploration and tasks players to journey through a desolate wasteland with a caravan on survivors.  Fans of card battlers and RPG-driven experiences will feel at home as they manage their caravan, scavenge for resources and fight card-based battles against zombies, hostile factions and other nasties.  There are currently 50 different combat cards for players to discover and use to make strategic combat decisions, with more to be added throughout the early access period.

Managing the caravan is essential for survival as it not only serves as transportation but also as a place to house the storage units, workbenches and other essential features.  The performance of the caravan can also be improved by replacing vehicle parts, with each affecting how the vehicle can handle certain terrain and threats.

As well as customising the vehicle, players will also be able to make each survivor a unique character using a deep attribute, skill and perk system.  Throughout the journey players will see their survivors go from a bedraggled group of survivors into hardened apocalypse veterans.

During the early access period, players will be able to experience the game’s expansive world in Act I but as time progresses the team hopes to continue expanding the game with more quests, characters, cards and more.

Visit The Dead Await’s Steam page now and take advantage of the limited time 10% discount.
