Retro-inspired brawler He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction coming in 2026

August 19, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Leading toy and entertainment company Mattel, along with developer Bitmap Bureau and Limited Run Games, has unveiled He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction, a retro-inspired 2D brawler at this year’s Gamescom opening night event. The upcoming title is scheduled to arrive on PC and consoles in 2026 in both digital and physical editions. A new announcement trailer is available to watch below…

Inspired by the classic 1980s cartoon, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction will allow players to take control of beloved heroes, including He-Man, Teela, Man-At-Arms, and more, to fight against the schemes and plans of Skeletor and his evil minions, threatening the peace of Eternia.

Players will battle through 12 action-packed levels in classic 2D brawler style using a variety of different character-specific moves, abilities, and power-ups. Even Cringer will join in the fray in his heroic Battle Cat form and fight on the side of good against the forces of Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, and many other villains.

“Dragon Pearl of Destruction is one of the exciting ways we’re bringing Mattel’s brands to life through digital games,” said Erika Winterholler, Head of Business Development, Digital Games at Mattel. “It’s a love letter to those who grew up with He-Man, combining nostalgic visuals with fast-paced, modern gameplay. Our goal is to honor the franchise’s legacy while introducing it to a new generation of players. The team at Limited Run Games shares that passion, and we hope the game connects with both lifelong fans and newcomers alike.”

With an 80s-style visual, pixel-art animation, and designs by the truly dedicated, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction will be one for fans to look out for.
