The Wizard of Oz gets a wicked horror reimagining with Gale: Yellow Brick Road trailer

January 9, 2026 by Amie Cranswick

Chilling Films and Fathom Entertainment have released a trailer for Gale: Yellow Brick Road, director Daniel Alexander’s twisted reimagining of L. Frank Baum’s classic, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

The fantasy horror follows Emily, the granddaughter of Dorothy, who finds she has inherited the family curse her mother thought she had buried when she is pulled in the world no-one believed existed, which is no longer the world of wonder her grandmother once knew, but a land filled with twisted remnants, ruled by madness and horrors, and Emily must set out to uncover the truth about Oz.

The cast includes Chloë Crump, Karen Swan, Laura Kay Bailey, Sarah Feltham, and Hariet Isidor. Check out the trailer below…

Decades after her return from Oz, Dorothy Gale, now an elderly woman, is tormented by memories of a world no one believes existed – a world that has grown darker with time. Whispers of that land still haunt her dreams, and its nightmares have begun to reach beyond the yellow brick road into reality, threatening everything she holds dear. Her granddaughter, Emily, inherits the curse tied to her family’s name. Drawn by unanswered questions and visions she cannot explain, Emily finds herself pulled into the ruins of a realm once filled with wonder, now decayed and ruled by madness and horrors. There, she encounters the twisted remnants of familiar figures and discovers that the line between past and present, dream and reality, has been shattered. To escape, Emily must confront the terror that consumed Dorothy, and the truth about Oz – and what really lies at the end of the yellow brick road.

Gale: Yellow Brick Road arrives in cinemas for one night only, on February 11th.
