With his latest Stephen King adaptation Carrie set to premiere on Prime Video this October, The Haunting of Hill House and The Life of Chuck director Mike Flanagan looks set to reunite with Amazon on another of its big IP projects, with Deadline revealing that the filmmaker is joining Henry Cavill as part of the creative team of the Warhammer 40,000 TV series.
Based on the Games Workshop tabletop miniature game, Warhammer 40,000 takes place in the distant future where humanity finds itself in perpetual, unwinnable war against various malevolent alien races and supernatural entities.

A huge fan of the game and its universe, Cavill acquired the rights to the IP alongside Roy Lee and Natalie Viscuso of Vertigo Entertainment back in 2022, taking it to Amazon with a view to Cavill executive producing and starring in a series adaptation. As per Deadline’s report, Flanagan – who signed an overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios last year – is now set to board the project as showrunner, writer and director.
