Lorenzo di Bonaventura options Mark Millar’s MPH

April 26, 2014 by Gary Collinson

After reaching a deal with Fox a couple of weeks ago for an adaptation of his superhero series Superior, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that comic book writer Mark Millar’s upcoming title MPH has been optioned by producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, G.I. Joe).

“(Lorenzo’s) one of the few real moguls in the industry, having hired Chris Nolan for Batman and bought the rights to the Harry Potter books when he was head of Warner Bros. and then of course he’s the guy behind the Transformers movies,” states Millar. “So he’s a guy who really knows how to make huge pictures and he’s somebody I’ve always wanted to work with on one of the bigger Millarworld adaptations.”

Created by Millar and artist Duncan Fegredo, MPH tells the story of four teenagers who acquire super speed for seven days after getting their hands on a new street drug called MPH. The first issue is set to be published by Image Comics on May 21st.

As well as MPH and Superior, several other Millarworld titles are in various stages of development, with Nemesis, Starlight, Kindergarten Heroes and American Jesus all in the works and Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of The Secret Service set for release in October of this year.
