The Omen heading for the small screen with Damien

May 20, 2014 by Luke Owen

A few years ago, it seemed that no horror movie would escape a 21st Century remake. Now it seems that no horror franchise is safe from a small screen adaptation. The likes of Hannibal, Bates Motel and From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series have gone down well with fans and now it looks like Damien himself will be heading to television sets near you according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Damien will follow the titular character, now an adult, facing up to his past and coming to terms with being the anti-Christ.

The Omen was directed by Richard Donner in 1976 and sparked controversy with the Catholic church and was famed for having a “cursed” production. The movie spawned 2 sequels, two made-for-TV movies in 1991 and 1995 and a remake in 2006.

This is not the first time that The Omen has been developed for TV with a production in 2005 starring Bill Pullman called Revelations never making it past the pilot stage. With that said, the pilot had very little to do with the original movie.

Damien will be written and exec produced by Glen Mazzarra who has worked as a show runner on The Walking Dead and is attached to write The Shining prequel movie, The Overlook Hotel.

More details to follow.
