Tom Hardy wanted for John Connor role in Terminator reboot

November 9, 2013 by admin

Earlier in the week we heard that Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Brie Larson (21 Jump Street) and Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street) are under consideration for the role of Sarah Connor in director Alan Taylor’s (Thor: The Dark World) upcoming Terminator reboot, with Boyd Holbrook (The Host) and Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy) also up for John Connor.

Well according to The Hollywood Reporter, there’s truth in the rumours that Emilia Clarke and Brie Larson are set to test for Sarah Connor, while Garrett Hedlund is actually under consideration for the part of Kyle Reese, with Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Days of Future Past) and Taylor Kitsch (John Carter) also said to be in the mix. However, Taylor has apparently identified his number one candidate for John Connor, with the site reporting that Tom Hardy tops the wishlist to succeed his The Dark Knight Rises co-star Christian Bale in the role that’s also been a portrayed by Edward Furlong, Michael Edwards and Nick Stahl.

Terminator has been written by Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry) and is expected to see Arnold Schwarzenegger returning to the cast in some capacity, while there’s also been rumours that Dwayne Johnson (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) could be in line for a role as the cyborg killing machine. The reboot is set to arrive in cinemas on July 1st 2015.
