Dino Crisis reboot is not being planned, says series producer

March 8, 2017 by Jordan Jones

Not long ago, it was revealed that Capcom was shifting its focus to reviving some of their older IP’s. Obviously, aside from Onimusha, one of the first series that came to mind was Dino Crisis, Capcom’s Resident Evil meets Jurassic Park survival horror series from the late-’90s (and the awful Xbox 360 installment, of course). However, it sadly looks like that may not be in the cards. For now, at least. In an interview with the Daily Star, Dino Crisis, and Resident Evil 7 producer Masachika Kawata shared some of his thoughts on the potential for a sequel/reboot.

“I think if you were to create Dino Crisis with modern gaming technology it would be a really exciting prospect,” said Kawata, adding that he has a “hope in his heart” that Capcom will get around to bringing the franchise back. Sadly, he reveals that there are not “currently any conversations happening [at Capcom], that I’m aware of.”

While not great news, at least there is hope that we will see the series return to the spotlight one day. After all, Mr. Kawata is right: with current-gen consoles, and VR capabilities, a Dino Crisis game has the potential to be absolutely thrilling.
